8 cups chopped iceberg lettuce
3/4 cup sliced red onions
2 cups frozen peas, thawed (one 10oz. pkg.)
l pkg (6oz.) smoked ham chopped (8 oz of cooked, drained and crumbled bacon can be substituted)
3/4 cup mayonnaise or miracle whip
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 TBS sugar
1 cup grated or crumbled cheese (colby jack or cheddar)
2/3 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
Layer lettuce, onions, peas and ham in a clear large straight-sided serving bowl.
Mix mayo, parmesan cheese and sugar. Spread over salad to seal; cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Top with cheese and tomatoes just before serving.
Makes about 8 servings of 1 cup each.
