German Chocolate Cake (Lance's Birthday Cake)



Buy and cook according to pkg directions one German Chocolate Cake Mix (9x13 greased pan)
Dump cooked chocolate cake onto plater and let cool.
Frost with German Chocolate Frosting...see below...

3 egg yolks (beat and set aside)
1 stick melted butter
1 can evaporated milk
1 TBS flour
1 cup sugar
dash of salt
Add dry ingredients into melted butter and milk. Slowly add beaten egg yokes.
2 cups shredded coconut
1/3 cup pecans
1/4 tsp vanilla
Add nuts and coconut. Cook until thick, stirring constantly over medium heat on stove. Add vanilla and cool partially before spreading onto cooled cake.

This is Lance's official Birthday Cake. I first made it when he was about 3 years old (cake was in the shape of a Teddy Bear) I hear that it is his yearly request...Happy Birthday Lance!!
